When an access ramp to the home is necessary, this straightforward design can be a good starting point. Turning strollers, wheelchairs and other personal transportation devices become easier with more available floor space. A small deck or landing off the home is usually the best way to achieve easy access to and from the home. A 70 square foot deck is about the minimum amount of space to comfortably maneuver in and out of most homes.
This particular ramp design has a turn around deck between the two sections of ramp. This platform divides a long length of ramp into two for a smaller footprint. A staircase has been added to accommodate visitors who may desire quicker access and a more inviting entrance.
All wrapped up, said and done, this layout works best when a small footprint ramp is important to its design.
