Decks can be difficult and even dangerous to build particularly for those who do not have the skill or strength required to construct one. Purchasing deck plans is a step in the right direction weather you decide to build the deck yourself or hire a deck builder to construct it for you. Multiple copies of our plans can be printed to obtain comparable estimates by having several builders bid on same the plan and specifications. Building Departments
It's always a good idea to contact your local building department before you start planning a deck. They will have the most up to date information regarding deck construction and can be a wealth of information on the proper procedures in doing the job right. For best results explain to them what you are planning to build (Elevated deck, pool deck, etc.). They will inform you on the current towns requirements for deck projects, how to obtain a permit, as well as contractor and homeowner responsibilities for construction projects.
Permits
Most municipalities throughout the United States and Canada now required a construction permit for new deck construction or when replacing an existing deck. A permit assures you that the deck will be legally and properly built following the requirements set fourth by the governing agencies (building department, planning board, zoning officials etc.) that oversee construction projects for the town that the project is being built in.
